Aao, Shiksha Ke Deep Jalaye | Integrated Slum Education & Community Development Initiative

Under the “Aao, Shiksha Ke Deep Jalaye” initiative, Azad Foundation Society adopted 47 vulnerable families in the Lal Digarri area of Aligarh and worked with them through an integrated approach covering education, health, housing, sanitation, social security and livelihood support.

Children from these families were supported with school admissions and educational access, helping them move towards regular schooling and away from educational exclusion and child labour.

The initiative also helped families access essential government schemes and public services. Support was provided for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana applications, housing assistance, widow pension, old-age pension and marriage assistance schemes.

Health and basic infrastructure needs were addressed through health awareness and medical camps, installation of a hand pump through Nagar Nigam, and toilet facilities through a mobile toilet van.

Women from the community were also encouraged to become economically independent through admission to sewing and vocational training programmes.
